ABOUT NATHAN

Hello, I’m Nathan (he/him), and I aim provide a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for therapy—whether in person, online, or over the phone. I work with clients from diverse backgrounds and identities, guided by an intersectional framework that recognizes how our overlapping identities shape who we are. It’s essential to understand the full complexity of a person’s identity in therapy; without this lens, we risk overlooking crucial aspects of the individual’s experience.

My own intersectional identity—being mixed race and neurodivergent, among other factors—deepens my understanding of how various marginalized identities impact lived experiences and ways of navigating the world.

I hold advanced accreditation as a Gender, Sex, and Relationship Diversity (GSRD) therapist through Pink Therapy, having completed over two years of specialist training. Areas I work with include, but are not limited to:

  • Transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse identities

  • Intersectionality

  • Intimate partner violence and minority stress

  • Understanding kink and BDSM

  • Supporting sex workers

  • Shame and internalized oppression

  • GSRD relationships

  • Autism and GSRD

I offer both short- and long-term therapy, working at a pace that suits you. The foundation of effective therapy is a strong therapeutic relationship, built on trust and understanding. I use an integrative approach, drawing on multiple therapeutic modalities while avoiding technical jargon to ensure sessions are accessible and client-centered. Together, we’ll focus on the areas you want to explore, and I’m happy to collaborate on how best to approach your therapy journey if that feels overwhelming.

Since 2007, I have held various supportive roles addressing issues such as homelessness, substance use, offending behavior, mental health, gender identity, and sexuality. I spent nearly a decade working within the criminal justice system supporting victims of crime, including serving as a hate crime lead and being trained in restorative justice. I was also involved with the Police National LGBT Network, promoting understanding both within the organization and the wider community.

Since 2016, I have worked as a counsellor with multiple organizations, including youth charities, City College Peterborough, and Thorpe Hall Hospice as an associate therapist.

In my private practice, I offer one-on-one counselling sessions of either 50 or 80 minutes, available in person, online, or over the phone. Additionally, I facilitate group work and provide training sessions on topics such as transgender and gender-diverse identities, unconscious bias, intersectionality, and privilege, tailored for organizations and mental health professionals.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and hold advanced accreditation in GSRD therapy through Pink Therapy. I carry full indemnity insurance, hold an enhanced DBS check, and attend regular supervision to maintain ethical practice and support ongoing professional development.

Having been in the client’s seat myself, I understand how challenging it can be to seek support. By visiting my website, you’ve already taken an important first step. I’m deeply passionate about accompanying clients through difficult times and supporting their personal growth.

If you would like to learn more about the therapy I offer or would like a no-pressure, informal chat, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
